# Felt design system proposal

October 31, 2026. A reviewable direction, not a finalized brand standard.

## Typeface pairing

- Display: Bricolage Grotesque, usually weight 650, close spacing and short expressive lines.
- Body and interface: DM Sans, weight 400 for reading and 600 for labels/actions.
- The original felt wordmark remains physical artwork. Neither font redraws it.

The page includes both font files, their OFL licenses, an alphabet/numeral specimen, editable sample text, a weight control, hierarchy examples, and a reversible preview of the pairing across the whole site. The existing site typography remains the default while the pairing is reviewed.

## Color roles

Primary supplies depth, recognition and strong text. Accent supplies a small burst of energy. The warm base supports reading, light and tactile objects. The same roles apply across all ten palette options. Each option has its own real artwork; no image color filter substitutes for recoloring.

## Visual grammar

Physical wool fibers, thickness, cut edges and coherent light define the material. The folded door and raised crossbar show dimension with meaning. Product symbols remain physical felt objects. The crew belongs to the overall world rather than being tied one-to-one to products.

Use a contained scene with one focal action, a close camera and supporting details that explain the work. For motion, connect cause and effect: pull, tension, bridge, fastener, open door. A real production animation still requires layered or rigged source assets. The opening scene now includes a layered crew animation with the original wool cutouts, an articulated zipper action, a bending calendar leaf, a travelling courier and a hinged door. It includes replay stations, pause, offscreen suspension and reduced motion. Other workshop scenes remain still; this is not a completed brand film.

## Human language and ownership

The source messaging frames the ambition as “Make hiring more human. For everyone.” Candidate opportunity and recruiting-team capacity belong together. Agents own agreed work; the human Felt team helps choose the starting point, design processes and support operational change. Aaron's explicit “agentic platform for recruiting teams” positioning supersedes the older AI Recruiter category label in the source document.

The candidate journey pairs three views at every stage: candidate experience, Felt's work and the recruiting team's outcome. Optional checks are configurable. Tasks and Recruiter Notetaker are included where the source supports them, without inventing new product symbols. Hiring decisions remain with the recruiting team.

## Product-line clarification, October 31, 2026

Aaron clarified that “Felt, at every step.” is specifically about being with the candidate throughout screening, interviewing, scheduling and the rest of the candidate journey. The task/process/operations ladder separately describes the work a recruiting team can choose to delegate. The agentic-platform positioning is unchanged.
